Dinas welcomed league favourites and reining Welsh champions RTB Ebbw Vale to St Andrews Road this evening and, with both teams missing a few players it was all to play for. The home team started the stronger with the rinks of Woodcock and Chapman leading the way. After five ends Dinas had run into a 14 shot lead but then the champions started to show their class and Dinas started to wobble. By the 10th end RTB had turned the table and led the home side by two shots but Dinas then started to fight back with the rink of Ian Paterson, Tim Hurcom, Alex Meddins, and Matt Woodcock picking up 13 shots in five ends and by 15 ends across the board Dinas had a lead of 11 again.
This time they were determined to hold on to it and came away with a great 12 points. Dinas entertained Cardiff today in the PG Top Club Competition. The sun was shining and after yesterday's downpour the green was running well. The pairs, triples, fours, and two wood got underway and it was Cardiff who drew first blood winning the 2 wood singles. Dinas were winning the pairs and fours at the halfway stage and Cardiff the triples. So with the singles starting it was all to play for. The rinks secured the first point for Dinas and this was quickly followed by a pairs win for Dinas, taking them into a 2-1 lead. The singles was an even match until some good conversion shots saw Cardiff gain another point taking the score to 2-2. The Dinas triple secured the win for Dinas, which saw them win 3-2. This evening Dinas entertained Ystradfechan at St Andrews Road, with Dinas in good form and Ystradfechan coming down from Division 1 this was going to be a very competitive game. However, Ystradfechan showed their class and started fast out of the blocks, running into a 15 shot lead by end five. Dinas looked to fight back, but they found this a hard challenge with Ystradfechan still leading at end 10. Dinas kept fighting and at 15 ends the deficit had reduced to only six shots. Ystradfechan picked up 13 shots to Dinas eight over the last 12 ends and so it wasn't to be.
Ystradfechan fully deserved the 12 points to 2 win. Hopefully the return fixture will be just as competitive and enjoyable.

Today Dinas Powys travelled to Llantrisant and with the weather not being kind it was fingers crossed the game would go ahead.
The game started on time and Dinas started the better to lead by three shots after five ends across the board. It was a challenge not only with the winds but also with the green, as most rinks seemed to have a good hand and straight hand. By 10 ends Dinas had extended this to eight shots but with nothing in the game it was still all to play for.
The rink of Steve Linney, Matt Gershenson, Darren Turner and Mike ‘Pickles’ Prosser got their diggers out and fought back with five ones and a four to lead on their rink at 15 ends by one shot. The rinks of Bowen and Woodcock were firmly in control but the rink of Terry ‘Lance’ Bratcher, Tim Hurcom, Gareth Griffiths and Chris Chapman had let a 9-2 lead slip to find themselves 16-14 down with six ends to go. Dinas dug deep to see the game out and take 12 of the 14 points available and by 14 shots. In a highly anticipated away clash the Dinas team made their way to Pontyclun without their esteemed captain, Matthew Woodcock, as well as Alex Meddins. However, the absence of these key players did not dampen the spirits of the team, as Vice Captain Tim stepped up to lead the charge. After a delayed start due to rain, Tim rallied his teammates with an inspiring team talk, setting the stage for an exciting contest.
As the match progressed, Pontyclun fought back valiantly, particularly on the rinks led by Rhys Fielding and Colin Dowling, as both players displayed their resilience, staging impressive comebacks and narrowing the gap. However, the Dinas Powys rinks proved to be formidable opponents, showing great composure and maintaining their advantage throughout the contest.
When the final bowls were delivered and the scores were tallied, it was Dinas who emerged triumphant.
The final scoreline reading Dinas Powys 95 - 57 Pontyclun with Dinas taking all 14 points.
Individual performances on the rinks were notable, with R. Bowen leading the way for Dinas Powys with a hard-fought victory of 20-15 against the talented C. Dowling. C. Chapman showcased his skills as well, securing a 19-14 win over the determined R. Fielding. M. Prosser delivered an outstanding performance, leading his rink to a resounding 28-15 victory against G. Fielding. Lastly, M. Ackland demonstrated his prowess, leading his rink to a convincing 28-13 win over K. Agius.
Overall, it was a memorable day for the Club, as the 'A' team also secured an excellent 67-53 home win against a very good Cardiff Athletic side, collecting eight of the 10 points on offer.

After six ends, whilst three rinks were being evenly contested, Paul Marks rink, again on rink six, had raced into an unassailable 18-1 lead. As the game progressed the home rinks all took control with Dinas eventually running out convincing winners, across all four rinks, with a 99-41 victory, to record their seventh win of the season.

Having narrowly lost at home earlier in the season, the Dinas Ladies Evening League team exacted a measure of revenge on Penylan Ladies as they ground out an excellent 31-24 victory in the return fixture.
Leading 12-4 at one stage the rink of Glen Watts, Denise Letts, Lynn Marks and skip Linda Woodcock saw off a late comeback from their opponents to win the last two ends and secure a 16-11 rink win. This was backed up by the rink of Sonia Letts, Christine Hope, Jayne Illingworth and skip Judith Meddins who, after dropping a five on the fourth end showed great spirit to themselves pick up a six on end six before again coming from behind to win the last two ends and triumph 15-13. Another excellent win for the Ladies. Final score: Dinas Powys 31-24 Penylan
