With no PG1 game it was left to the 'A' team to complete this months fixtures with an away trip to Penarth Windsor. The early exchanges were close and after six ends Dinas were one shot ahead at 16-15, courtesy of Elgan Evans rink leading eight-two. Over the next six ends Dinas forged ahead, in no small part to Chris Daws rink picking up three shots on five consecutive ends, and Evans rink leading 16-4. After 12 ends Dinas seemed well placed with a 14 shot 40-26 lead overall, with two rinks up. Unfortunately a dropped five on end 13 on Elgan's rink saw the wheels come off somewhat, as they eventually went down 18-22. Chris Daws rink, Gittings, Lloyd and Williams, meanwhile pushed on and registered a fine 28-17 win. The game was very much in the balance as, on the final end, the Windsor skip go a rub to come in for shot and tie the match at 61-61 overall, in an exciting climax.

Dinas suffered a defeat today in the last 16 of the Carruthers Shield away to Cwmbran Park. It was a difficult surface to play on, which the home team found better. Dinas started the stronger taking an early six shot lead on five ends. By the 10th end the home side had turned it around to lead by two shots. With 17 ends played across the board Dinas were struggling to hold on, as the lead had stretch to 16. Another strong effort wasn't quite enough for Dinas who managed to pick up 20 shots to Cwmbran's eight over the last three ends across the board of the game to lose narrowly by seven. Final score Cwmbran 75-68 Dinas Powis.
Dinas wish Cwmbran Park all the best in their quarter final next week.

This weeks Munro Cup fixture saw a trip to Millwood for the midweek team, looking to maintain their unbeaten record in this the 11th game of the season. After six of the 18 ends Dinas had nudged into a small five shot lead 24-19 overall and were ahead on two rinks. Ritchie Janes' rink were level at 7-7 despite having dropped a six on the fourth end!!. Across the middle six ends Dinas took control extending their leads on three rinks and moving 22 shots ahead.
The final six ends saw little concern as the visitors took home the spoils and 12 points winning on three rinks 68-50.
Dinas were pleased to welcome yet another debutant in Walter Williams onto Tim Hurcom's rink, but despite his best endeavours they fell to a six shot defeat.

With no 1st team fixture the 'A' Team took centre stage on Saturday, looking for valuable league points when they hosted Mackintosh 'A' in a closely fought encounter on two of the three rinks. Messrs Lougher, Morgan, Leaden and Hotchkiss, on rink three, were level at 19-19 going into the final end, and with the jack moved well off centre, it was left to skip Doug Hotchkiss to draw shot with the last bowl to secure the narrowest of victories. Meanwhile on rink two, having picked up a six on end 13, David Vowles' rink looked set for a win as they led by five with two ends to play. Unfortunately they dropped a two and three on the final two ends to draw 19-19. Sadly Robin Charlton's rink wilted in the blistering heat eventually going down 10-23 leaving Mackintosh the victors by 61-49 with the home side picking up three points.

A much changed midweek team recorded a tenth win of the season when they entertained Penarth Windsor this evening. In wonderful sunny conditions for bowls Dinas were pleased to welcome new bowler Mark Somers on to Paul Marks' rink, Linda Woodcock made her midweek team debut on Gerry White's rink and Mike Edwards made a return after a long absence due to injury with Ritchie Janes. White's rink stormed into an early 15-0 lead after six ends, and Janes followed suit, picking up a five to also lead 13-3 after six. Dinas proved too strong for the visitors and eventually won across all four rinks 88-47 in what is proving to be a very encouraging season for the midweek team.

Dinas Powys travelled to Coedgwilym today in the 2nd round of the Carruthers Shield. It was an unknown for Dinas but with a great playing surface and soon a clubhouse to match it was Dinas that took an early lead of 9 shots by the 5th end, with the rink of Dave Parker, newly signed Richard Bowen, Matt Gershenson and Matthew Woodcock striding into a 22-2 lead on ten ends.
Dinas pulled away to lead the halfway stage by 20. With the rinks of Ackland and Janes pulling back and Woodcock and Prosser maintaining their leads it earned Dinas a 30 shot win at 91-61 and a trip to Cwmbran Park in the 3rd round.

Dinas midweek team ventured to Penarth Belle Vue this evening looking for their ninth consecutive victory of this seasons Munro Cup campaign. It was somewhat sad to see the hosts lovely old pavilion now closed, awaiting demolition, and with little council support and despite the home team’s best endeavours the green itself in such a poor state. Nonetheless a very friendly game took place which was evenly contested.
Dinas had another player on debut, with the vastly experienced Richard Bowen playing on skip Matthew Gershensons rink. Trailing by two shots with two ends to play the visitors rink picked up a two and a four to run out winners by 17-13. Meanwhile Tim Hurcom’s rink raced into a big lead only to collapse in the second half of their game, but just managed to scrap home 15-14.25 victors. Elsewhere Mike Ackland returned to old stomping ground and after picking up seven shots on end eight ran out ‘top rink’ with a very handsome 28-13 win.
A sporting contest saw the home side collect the remaining two points on offer as Dinas ran out 75-59.25 victors.

Dinas travelled to a sunny Cardiff today in the Pg1's on a difficult laid out four rinks. Cardiff started the stronger taking a seven shot lead on five ends across the board. By 10 ends the home side had extended that lead to 19 shots, but by the 15th end Dinas had pulled it back to 15 shots with less than five shots splitting all four of the rinks and everything still to play for. The overall game was, in the end, won 10-4 by Cardiff and by 13 shots at 77-64. (MW - Capt)
