Dinas travelled to Guest Memorial today for their final game of the Private Greens season with the league standing all finalised. That however didn't stop them wanting to go out on a high and the visitors started strongly going into a seven shot lead. By the tenth end we had extended this to 29 shots with all rinks winning. With 'the gift', 'whip' and 'pickles' Prosser all showing their class it was Dinas that ran out winners on all rinks and by 46 shots, and to end their season on a winning note. Final score, Dinas 104 (14pts) Guest Memorial 58 (0pts).
We wish Guest Memorial all the best for next season.

Today Dinas welcomed Whitchurch, who had all to play for as 14 points for the visitors would see them secure second spot in the league and earn promotion. There was a full crowd watching representing a number of interested clubs.
It was a tough ask but Whitchurch started the better and were ahead by 11 shots after five ends. By 10 ends the visitors had almost secured three rinks in the bag and it was 'nip and tuck' on the other. With three Whitchurch rinks coasting to wins their rinks it was left to the home rink of Andrew Harvey, Chris Daw, Chris Williams and Richard Bowen to hold on to a very slender win to give Dinas something out of the game, and to deny Whitchurch that coveted 2nd spot. Final score Dinas Powis 68 (2pts) Whitchurch 97 (12pts).
It is certainly going to be a hard fought Division 2 again next season.
Rink scores: R Bowen 20-19 D Sadler      G Griffiths 14-23 O Lebretan      R Janes 18-22 M Mitchell     M Woodcock 16-33 I Rogers

Dinas entertained Llanbradach today in a crucial match for both sides in their respective bids to win promotion to Division 1. Whilst Dinas were keen to get off to a good start it was the away side that began the match the stronger leading by 11 shots after the first five ends ends. A much stronger Llanbradach side than the first encounter earlier in the season then stretched their lead to 18 shots after 10 ends and were fully in control of the game. In fact they never looked like not getting over the line, which was disappointing for Dinas. The Brad eventually went on to win three rinks to one and by 40 shots. Final score Dinas Powis 55 (2pts) Llanbradach 95 (12pts)
We wish Llanbradach all the best next year and congratulate them on their promotion.
Rink scores:  M Ackland 13-27 R Jackson     R Bowen 20-15 N Hurn      M Prosser 5-31 M Selway      M Woodcock 17-22 M Smith

The 'A' team made the long journey to Dowlais this evening for their penultimate league game of the season against Guest Memorial 'A'.  With a number of players unavailable it was a somewhat strengthened looking team that made the trip with hopes of cementing the teams second placed league placing. Dinas got off to a slowish start and after six of the scheduled 18 ends trailed by six shots at 10-16. Over the next six ends however they picked up the gauntlet and turned the deficit into a five shot lead overall at 35-30 with two rinks in front. Despite dropping a count of five of the sixth end, Paul Marks' rink then registered 11 unanswered shots to move 14-9 in front. Unfortunately Dinas stuttered over the closing ends with Guest finishing strongly to narrowly win by two shots at 49-47.
Rink scores:     M Gershenson 14-12 R Davies     R Janes 14-19 R Flyle     P Marks 19-18 C Thasker

Mike Prosser won his 4th Merthyr West End tournament this afternoon, some 12 years since his last crown, when he beat Carl Mounty (Gilfach Bargoed) in the final. A tremendous performance by Mike to cap a super week of bowling.

Well done to Ritchie Janes on getting through to the final of the Cratchley Bowls, Champion of Champions, final today.
Ritchie beat his Millwood opponent in the semi final before being defeated by Steve Toms of RTB Ebbw Vale in final.
Great effort Ritchie, you've done yourself and the club proud.

Dinas Powys travelled to St Fagans today in what was always going to be a tough game. St Fagans were playing for pride and Dinas hoping to keep in the hunt for promotion. It was a nervy start to the game and after 10 ends it was the Stags that were leading by four shots with St Fagans three rinks to the good. By 15 ends Dinas had taken a small lead of five shots. However, even with the rinks of Mike Hill and Chris Chapman picking up 7 and 9 shots over the last six ends on their rinks it was Dinas that held on thanks to skips Richard Bowen and Gareth Griffiths who picked up eight and nine shots on their last three ends to see Dinas home, winning by 6 shots 87-81 (12 points)
Rinks scores:     M Ackland 25-21 M Hill      R Bowen 25-17 D Turner      G Griffiths 22-20 M Stevens      M Woodcock 15-23 C Chapman

Dinas Powys 'A' team also had a great home win against Guest Memorial winning 57-43 and picking up 8 points.
Rink scores:      A Locker 17-11 C Tasker     C Scott 26-10 T Powell      W Williams 15-22 R Davies

The Dinas 'A' team visited Whitchurch Hospital this evening for a hastily rearranged PG2 fixture with a somewhat makeshift side. On a sunny evening, and a very fast green, the game was evenly contested for the first nine of the scheduled 18 ends, and at the half way stage Dinas held a slender four shot advantage across the board at 30-26.
During the second half of the game Dinas found their range. Elgan Evans' rink, despite dropping a six on end 14 came from behind to pick up eight shots over the last four ends to win 23-18. Then it was the turn of the Williams brothers. Walters rink eased to a 23-14 victory whilst younger sibling Chris, aided by David Lougher, the evergreen Clive Todd and newcomer Huw Lloyd collected 11 shots over the closing four ends to run out 'top rink' winning 23-13.
A very good 24 shot victory at 69-45 and another 10 points was a very welcome return for a good nights bowls.
Rink scores:     E Evans 23-18 S Long      C Williams 23-13 L Price      W Williams 23-14 S Jones
