Having secured an excellent 94-61, 33 shot victory, from last Saturdays visit to Robinswood Crescent, Dinas secured a valuable 'double' over the visiting Windsor team, with a narrow and hard earned eight shot win, 79-71 in the return fixture on Saturday 30th May.
With the visitors keen to avenge their earlier defeat they started in determined mood, and indeed after 10 ends there was little to choose between the sides, with Dinas holding a slender two shot advantage at 37-35. The highlight of the opening exchanges for Dinas was a 'great eight' achieved by Peter Critcher's foursome as they established a 16-7 lead.
During the second half of the game both Peter Critcher's and Club Captain Paul Marks' rinks pushed on and went from strength to strength, securing impressive 17 and 10 shot victories respectively.
Skip Alun Jones, ably supported by the experience of Mark Diment and Dave Ireland, along with the youthful enthusiasm of Ben Harris, was able to steady the ship in the second period and fought back well, before eventually going down by six shots. Whilst last to finish, Andre Desrosiers rink also went down to defeat, but by then the victory for a delighted Team Captain Chris Bates had been secured.
A hat-trick of early season wins has seen the PG2's off to a flying start, which hopefully will bode well for games to come.
