The midweek Munro Cup team hosted Barry Plastics on Wednesday 29th July and on a pleasant balmy evening for bowls registered their third consecutive victory with a well earned 78-59 win, collecting 12 more points.
Dinas, and in particular Alun Jones' rink, started the match brightly and whilst at the half way stage of nine ends the rinks were shared two apiece, they had established a useful nine shot lead overall at 39-30.
The second half of the game saw Paul Mark's rink, who led 10-6 after nine ends, take control with youngsters Ben Harris and Joe Coles flourishing either side of the ever improving John Follon. Captain Marks was a happy man as his charges made life easy for him as the rink cruised home 21-8 and collected the diddler funds.
Alun Jones meanwhile, after a super first nine ends when they were 14-2 ahead, stumbled a little before eventually winning by a healthy eight shots at 20-12. The reverse was true of Gerry White's quartet who trailed 9-13 at the half way stage before hitting a very purple patch from ends 13-17 inclusive, where they racked up 14 unanswered shots to secure an impressive 25-16 win.
Sadly Matthew Gershenson's rink couldn't get going and conceding a seven on the 11th end put paid to any hopes they might of harboured of victory. They eventually went down to a disappointing 12-23 defeat.
Dinas have now won eight of their 12 Munro Cup games this season and have two away fixtures at Rhoose and Cowbridge to complete their season. To date the team have collected 115 points in total and have consolidated their fourth position in the league table with no prospect of catching Penarth Windsor, the run away league leaders.
Finally we'd all like to wish 2nd team Captain Chris Bates well as he recovers from a recent illness, and look forward to seeing him back playing again as soon as he is able.
