Dinas Powys got their 2015 Munro Cup campaign off to a winning start on Wednesday 6th May when they entertained Belle Vue on a cold, wet and very windy evening.

The poor evening weather conditions meant that both team Captains made the sensible decision to play a curtailed 15 end game with Dinas running out clear victors by 85 shots to 43, collecting all 14 points on offer as they came out on top across all four rinks.

The selectors decision to give as many players as possible an early opportunity for game time proved to be a good one, with Dinas particularly pleased to include young Ben Harris, who made his debut in the final game of last season, and looks a keen and bright prospect for the future.

Having retired to the warmth and dry of the clubhouse after the downpour, skip Alun Jones, after a 'brilliant first game' was overheard to remark that he only hopes he'll have thawed out by Saturday's next fixture. And to think that Bowls is a summer sport. We can only hope the sun comes out on Saturday, if only for Alun's sake!
