In glorious sunshine Dinas Powis confirmed their progress through the group stages of this years Carruthers Shield competition with an 80 shot, 120-40 victory over a soundly beaten Penarth Belle Vue side this afternoon, Saturday 17th May.

With both Chris Ackland and Gareth Griffiths unavailable from their previous match, Dinas brought in Tim Hurcom and Andy Locker and got off to a quick start leading by 27 shots with only four ends played, and in truth never let go of their grip on proceedings, steadily building their advantage as the match went on.

Mike Ackland's rink took the top honours on the day, losing only three ends as they swept to a fine 35-5 winning margin.

Dinas now move on to Round 1 of the knockout stages of the competition where they will travel away to play the winners of Section 4 (Lougher / Ammanford Town) on Saturday June 21st.
