Dinas Powis travelled to Penarth Rectory Road for their penultimate Munro Cup match on Wednesday 13th August 2014, and Captain Paul Marks was delighted with his teams endeavours, as they returned home victorious by 15 shots, collecting 10 points against a side just above them in the league table.
Whilst Captain Marks and Alun Jones' rinks both went down to defeat, 11-18 and 12-18 respectively, these losses were more than offset by good wins for Gareth Griffiths rink, 25-12 and Ritchie Janes at 25-10.
Griffiths' rink, with the experienced John Porter at lead, started very strongly, leading 12-2 after only six ends, as well as picking up a six later in the game as they triumphed comfortably.
Janes, returning to an old stomping ground, with Joe Coles, Hector Lamont and Dave Ireland providing excellent support, was always in control, winning 14 of the 18 ends as they cruised to victory against home skip Clive Fry.

On Wednesday 20th August Dinas brought the curtain down on their Munro Cup season in some style, with a resounding 53 shot home victory over Barry Athletic. Dinas were delighted to include newcomers, Ben Harris and Geraint Jones on midweek debut with Peter (aka Phil) Hufton making only his third appearance.
The 'diddler pot' went to Alun Jones' rink, of Hector Lamont, John Follon and Tim Hurcom, who completely dominated their opponents, recording an emphatic 25-1 shot victory, with the visitors single shot coming on the 11th end.
Captain Marks' rink finished very strongly to come home by 16, but pride of place undoubtedly went to Ritchie Janes' rink, with youngsters Ben Harris and Joe Coles performing admirably, as they romped home, scoring 16 unanswered shots over the last five ends to win by 15.

Finally, it would be remiss not to pay tribute to Captain Paul Marks who has lead the midweek team for the last three seasons, to considerable success, and who is now passing the baton on. Huge thanks are due to Paul for all his hard work in organising the teams and lending encouragement to all the players that have appeared over the past three years.
