The midweek league 'Munro Cup' team brought the curtain down on their season, when they entertained third placed Penarth Rectory Road, on Monday 12th August 2013. With both teams battling it out at the top end of the table a keenly fought encounter was anticipated.

Ritchie Janes' rink, playing against Roy Greenslade, got off to an impressive start, and after six ends lead by nine shots to two. They continued to quietly build their advantage which at one stage stretched out to 11, only to be pegged back in the last few ends, to eventually run out winners by seven shots, 24-17 .

Dinas Powis Captain Paul Marks faced a rink lead by Jason Greenslade, making a return to Dinas and a rare Munro Cup appearance. Jason's rink proved too strong for the Dinas foursome who despite a valiant effort eventually succumbed, 9-19.

Elsewhere, Gareth Griffiths' rink got off to a terrible start against Clive Fry and trailed by 1-12 after the first six ends.    They then however, contrived to orchestrate a magnificent recovery, finishing very strongly with a six on the final end, to run out winners by 25-17.

Unfortunately for the home side, the two winning rinks were not enough to secure the game, as Neil Giles' rink had a night to forget, going down heavily by 22 shots against Dave Dalby and 10 points went to Rectory Road.

Despite this setback Dinas ended their campaign in second position in the final Munro Cup table, having won 10 of their 14 midweek games and amassing a very respectable 139 points in the process.

This was a superb effort by the team, predominantly made up of 2nd team regulars and new bowlers.

Special mention must be made of Captain Paul Marks, who has worked tirelessly throughout the year, and fostered a fantastic team spirit amongst the many members who have competed in the midweek matches.
