On Saturday 20th July Dinas second team played host to Barry Athletic on a gloriously sunny afternoon looking to complete a 'double' having just edged the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Barry Athletic began the stronger and after seven ends, whilst all four rinks were closely fought, they had established a 10 shot advantage.
Dinas then had the better of the next third of the game, were able to narrow the gap to just four shots and at that stage the game was very much in the balance.
Unfortunately Dinas weren't able to maintain their push and the Athletic were able to regain the initiative. Whilst Chris Bates' rink held on to return a five shot win Neil Giles' rink suffered the ignominy of dropping an eight, to see them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and the Athletic stretch their eventual winning margin to 16 shots.
