After a run of indifferent results the PG2 side bounced back to something near their early season form, with a very competitive performance in holding current league leaders Penylan to a tense and thrilling 67-67 shot draw last Saturday, 3rd August 2013.

Dinas started confidently and the early exchanges were so evenly contested that after seven ends only one shot separated the teams, with two rinks tied. Penylan, with nine wins from ten this season, then slowly began to exert pressure and by the completion of 14 ends had their noses in front on three rinks and had established a narrow six shot advantage.

On the day however Dinas were not to be defeated, and with both Paul Marks and Neil Giles' rinks holding their own over the final ends it was left to Andre Desrosiers and Alan Jones' rinks to mount the fight back. Having picked up a four on the 18th end Dessy's rink completed a fine five shot victory courtesy of a superb 'toucher' from Gwyn Leach on the final end.

At this stage confusion reigned as, with three rinks completed, and one final bowl to be played, a count of the score boards suggested Dinas had achieved a single shot victory. With Alan Jones' rink holding a seven shot lead, and with a 'toucher in the ditch' against, it was decided not to play the final bowl.

Unfortunately the home teams celebrations were to be cut short as, on reviewing the score cards, it transpired that one of the boards was incorrect and a 67-67 draw, with each side collecting seven points was declared.

This could not however detract from a very spirited and determined all around team performance and a very encouraging result. The PG2 team will have an immediate opportunity to better their exploits as they again face Penylan in the reverse fixture in seven days time.
