With five players unavailable from the previous weeks victory over Llanbradach, it was a much changed Dinas Powis team that made the journey to Dowlais, to play Guest Memorial on Saturday 31st August.

With Mike Ackland unavailable, Dinas called upon the vast experience of Hugh Meddins, to step in as 'skip' for the first time this year, and his rink got off to a flying start, scoring a 'magnificent seven' on the first end, before galloping into a 18-3 lead with seven ends completed.

Similarly Gareth Griffiths' rink got off to a good start, scoring 12 shots without reply, to lead 12-5 after seven ends.

With a third of the match played Dinas had established a very solid 13 shot advantage, leading 40-27.

The middle third of the match was very much a case of consolidation for Dinas, with both leading rinks slightly extending their advantages, whilst the other two rinks held their positions. After 14 ends Dinas led by 14 with the score board showing 68-54.

As the match closed out, Dinas again stepped up the tempo. Griffith's rink finished strongly, winning six of the last seven ends, to run out winners by 18 shots, whilst Meddins Senior's rink, with Dave Parker in excellent form on the mat, pushed on to win by 22.

Alex Meddins, and his rink, however put the gloss on a good afternoon for the villagers with a fantastic comeback toturn an eight shot deficit, after 15 ends, into a one shot victory. Strangely, due to a score board 'malfunction' both sides left this rink with only 20 ends completed, under the impression the rink had been drawn 20-20. After some five minutes all eight players reappeared to play the decisive final end, with Meddins nudging the white with his final delivery, to a waiting Dinas back bowl.

With a clutch of 'A' team players stepping up to the plate, this was an excellent 99-72 shot, 12 point, away win for Dinas, who remain top of the Division, with two games left to play.
