Following three resounding, and disappointing defeats Dinas Powis 2nd team returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory at home against Rhiwbina 2nds yesterday, Wednesday 18th June.
At Rhiwbina's request the match was rescheduled from a weekend for a rare midweek PG fixture and played over a curtailed 18 ends. On a lovely sunny evening Dinas got off to a flying start, and after six ends had established a firm grip on proceedings, holding a 32-14 advantage, largely courtesy of Captain Paul Marks' ring, who flew into a 17-0 lead.
A further six ends on and Dinas had gone further ahead at 62-30 and were in front across all four rinks, all be it that Neil Giles and Andre Desrosiers rinks were only holding slender two shot leads.
By the end, Giles' rink had a storming finish, to win by seven, Captain Marks finished, as he started, with a flourish to romp to a 21 shot win and Alun Jones' rink played consistently well throughout to record a 14 shot win.
With Hector Lamont in fine form it was nothing less than Andre Desrosiers rink deserved to round off the match with a hard fought, but well deserved point from a 17-17 draw.
Captain Paul Marks was delighted to have 'stopped the rot' and an excellent 89-47 victory, and 13 points, now means Dinas have accumulated 39 points from their opening six fixtures, with three wins and three defeats, to sit mid table
