Dinas Powis 1st team got their 2014 Carruthers Shield campaign off to a emphatic start with a thumping 123 shot demolition of an overwhelmed Barry Central team last Saturday, 3rd May 2014.

Drawn in section 48 of this years National Club competition, Dinas were also due to meet Bridgend and Penarth Belle Vue in the opening group stages, but with Bridgend withdrawing, the group has become a three team shoot out.

Four times past winners of this prestigious competition, Dinas travelled the short distance to Barry in determined mood and quickly took control of proceedings on the heavy Central green, highlighted none more so than on Alex Meddins rink, who scored an eight on their third end, before eventually running out 49-9 winners.

The three other Dinas rinks also posted solid wins with Central failing to reach double figures on any of the four rinks as Dinas recorded an emphatic 155-32 victory, whilst recognising stiffer challenges will lie ahead as the competition progresses.
